When Key West wedding photographer Karrie Porter asked me to help her out with an engagement session in Nashville, the only answer I could come up with was “Of course!” After all, not only was Karrie one of my favorite teachers in school when I first moved to Nashville, but she was also a mentor and a friend. When I needed to move into a new apartment, Karrie was in the process of moving to Key West, and she graciously let me take over the lease on her fully-furnished apartment while I found something more permanent. She also happened to leave behind tons of photography books, magazines, and equipment, and for a photographer who was just getting started, it was heaven. I spent many nights on the office floor with Professional Photographer magazines spread out around me. Karrie is passionate about her photography, and I’m glad I was given the opportunity to shoot this engagement session for her.
Katie and Josh were one of the sweetest, most loving couples I’ve met. They wanted to bring their dogs, Jackson and Titus to their engagement session, so we met for a fun-filled day at the park, followed by some dancing at the War Memorial and a few drinks at The Palm, which is where they met here in Nashville. Katie and Josh will be getting married in Key West next year, and while I won’t be shooting their wedding, I want to wish them all the best in love, life and the in-between.
