When Nashville wedding photographer Joshua Gull asked me to second shoot Abbey and John’s incredible wedding at the Sam Davis Home in Smyrna, I jumped at the opportunity. I’ve watched Joshua’s work evolve into something incredible since I met him, and the weddings that he shoots are the kind of weddings that a photographer like me dreams about-full of love, laughter, details and an abundance of awesome moments. This was one of two weddings I got to shoot with Josh that weekend, and we started our day with the ladies, followed by an incredible first look, awesome light for the bridal portraits, a super-sweet ceremony, and a pretty awesome glowstick exit.
Being a second shooter at a wedding has so many advantages. For one, I get to work with incredibly talented photographers, and I often walk away having learned something new every time. I also get to open up my creative mind just a little bit more. Not having the same responsibilities as a primary photographer on a wedding day gives me the opportunity to still create beautiful, deliverable images for the primary, but also gives me a little bit more time to get those extra-creative shots. I was really happy to hand over these files to Josh, and I can’t wait for the next opportunity I get to shoot with him again.
